Privacy Policy
What this website collects, why, how long it is kept, and how to ask us to delete it.
Last updated
The short version
- We only get personal information you type into a form, and name and email are optional when requesting an item.
- No advertising trackers, no analytics, no cookies on public pages.
- Hosting logs (Vercel) and map tiles (OpenStreetMap) see your IP address, as with any website.
- Ask us to delete what you sent at any time through the contact page.
Overview
Mjolnir Meals (“we”, “us”) operates the website at mjolnirmeals.com. This policy explains what information the website collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
This website is an information and request tool. It shows cooler locations and what is stocked, and it lets you send us item requests, hosting inquiries, and messages. It does not process payments: purchases are completed at the cooler through its own payment system, which is operated separately from this website and covered by that provider’s terms.
We do not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics, or advertising cookies on this website.
Information you give us
We only receive personal information from you when you choose to send it through one of our forms:
- Item requests. The cooler you choose, the item you want (picked from our list or typed in, optionally with a brand), and — only if you decide to include them — your name, email address, and notes. Name and email are never required to request an item.
- Host-a-cooler inquiries. Business name, contact name, email address, phone number (optional), facility type, street address (optional), city and state, approximate number of people served (optional), and notes.
- Contact messages. Your name, email address, an optional subject, and your message.
Please do not include sensitive information (such as health, financial, or government ID details) in free-text fields.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our hosting provider, Vercel, records standard request logs — such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and timestamps — to deliver the site, keep it secure, and diagnose problems. These logs are kept according to Vercel’s retention practices.
- Spam protection on forms. When you submit a form we temporarily hold your IP address in server memory to limit repeated submissions. It is not written to our database and is discarded automatically.
- Map tiles. Pages that show a map load map imagery from OpenStreetMap. Your browser requests those tiles directly from OpenStreetMap’s servers, which can see your IP address and the map area requested. That request is governed by the OpenStreetMap Foundation’s privacy policy.
Browsing the public pages of this website sets no cookies.
Owner sign-in and cookies
The operations dashboard is used only by Mjolnir Meals staff. Sign-in uses Google through Firebase Authentication, so Google and Firebase process the sign-in according to their own policies. After a successful sign-in we set a single HTTP-only session cookie (mm_session) that expires after five days and is used solely to keep the owner signed in. Visitors to the public site never receive this cookie.
How we use information
- To act on item requests and decide what to stock in each cooler.
- To respond to hosting inquiries and contact messages.
- To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the website.
We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone other than the service providers listed below, unless required by law.
Service providers
These providers process data on our behalf to run the website:
- Vercel — website hosting and server logs.
- Google Firebase — the database that stores form submissions and inventory, and authentication for owner sign-in.
- OpenStreetMap — map imagery on location pages (loaded directly by your browser, as described above).
Retention
We keep form submissions for as long as they are needed to operate the service — for example, until an item request has been stocked or declined and archived, or until a hosting conversation has concluded — and then delete or anonymize them. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for its standard period.
Specific retention periods (for example, a fixed number of months for archived requests, leads, and messages) have not been set and should be confirmed with counsel before this policy is relied upon.
Your choices and deletion
You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information you have sent us through this website. Use the contact page. We may ask you to confirm the request from the email address you originally used so we do not act on someone else’s behalf.
Because name and email are optional on item requests, an anonymous request cannot be traced back to you and cannot be retrieved on request.
Children
This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The website is served over HTTPS, the owner dashboard is protected by server-side authentication with an HTTP-only session cookie, and access to stored submissions is limited to Mjolnir Meals staff. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Texas and California residents
We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and we do not use it for profiling. Residents of Texas, California, and other states with privacy laws may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port their information; you can exercise any of them through the contact methods above.
Whether the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act, or other state laws apply to a business of this size, and the exact rights language and response deadlines required, must be confirmed by an attorney.
Governing law
Mjolnir Meals is based in El Paso, Texas.
The governing-law and dispute-resolution language for this policy has not been drafted and requires attorney review.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be called out here. Continued use of the website after a change means the updated policy applies.
